Positives zuerst:Die Capture Card funktioniert super, auch auf Linux, ohne Software installieren zu müssen. Einfach einstecken und es wird quasi als "Webcam" mit Ton erkannt. Dass die Capture Card standardmäßig ein "No Signal"-Bild ausgibt, gefällt mir besonders gut. Meine alte Capture Card hatte oft Probleme, von OBS erkannt zu werden, diese sind mit der neuen fast vollständig behoben.Nun zum Negativen:Das mitgelieferte USB 3.1-Kabel war defekt. Ich habe den Support kontaktiert, aber sie konnten mir nur anbieten, die ganze Capture Card umzutauschen, was meiner Meinung nach Verschwendung wäre. Leider ist das mitgelieferte Kabel im Wert von ca. 10 Euro futsch und ich habe keinerlei Entschädigung erhalten. Das hätte man besser lösen können. Ich benutze jetzt einfach mein eigenes Kabel. Immerhin war der Support nett und hat zügig geantwortet.

Das Kästchen ist formschön, leicht und angenehm klein. Es liegen ein HDMI-Kabel und ein USB-C Kabel bei. Das AverMedia 4K funktioniert perfekt mit Linux. Es ist keine Software nötig, einfach anstöpseln und loslegen. Sehr positiv ist die Fähigkeit einen Ausgangsstream bis 4K/60 FPS per Passthrough auf einem Monitor darzustellen und gleichzeitig in ein ziemlich beliebiges Format über den USB-Anschluß zu streamen. Die Einstellung des Streams kann man dann z.B. mit OBS Studio machen. Das funktioniert genau so wie erwartet. Der HDMI Passthrough funktioniert auch wenn keine Stromversorgung durch den USB-C Anschluß erfolgt.Bei mir gab es am Anfang kein Bild auf dem Monitor oder Stream, aber ein Wechsel des HDMI-Kabels brachte Abhilfe. Im Zweifel die mitgelieferten Kabel nutzen.Nach einigen Tagen Nutzung bin ich extrem zufrieden mit der Karte. Der Preis ist sehr angemessen.Deshalb eine klare Kaufempfehlung für Leute die 4K bis 60 Hz zu einem bezahlbaren Preis streamen oder aufnehmen wollen.

Graba tus partidas, emite directos, todo con gran calidad y sencillez de uso. La instalación también es intuitiva y muy sencilla, prácticamente plug and play. No requiere de grandes conocimientos previos y captura todo tipo de aparatos (PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, consolas retro...). Es una excelente herramienta que da una calidad de imagen y sonido realmente buena sin necesidad de grandes ajustes. Ahorra espacio al ser interna. Se acompaña con un programa de edición y captura de video como es el Power Director, en una versión algo antigua eso sí, pero permite trabajar y editar en la mayoría de las situaciones más habituales, con lo que no es una gran pega esta versión, se le puede dar un uso mucho más que aceptable con muy buenos resultados. El programa sí requiere de algo más de práctica, pero como cualquier otro editor de video, una vez conocidos los pasos básicos es muy fácil de usar y conseguir los resultados que buscas.

Steht ihr bei den internen CaptureCards vor der Wahl zwischen Elgato 4K60 Pro Mk. 2, und der Avermedia Live Gamer 4K, greift am Besten zu letzterem.Dieses ist preiswerter, und liefert ein bedeutend besseres HDR Tonemapping (HDR Inhalte in SDR aufnehmen). Die Elgato hat in jeder meiner Aufnahmen in HDR Schwächen im Rot-Ton und leider einen deutlichen Grünstich.Die Avermedia macht alles von vornherein Top, lediglich etwas rötlich ist der Inhalt, dies kann man aber sehr gut weg ausgleichen.Auch brauche ich in OBS nicht mehr unnötig viele Quellen (eines für HDR Inhalte und eines für SDR mit übernatürlich vielen Filtern um das "echteste" Bild zu bekommen).Noch ein positiver Aspekt ist, dass die Avermedia auch mit "non standard" Formaten klar kommt.So ist das Nutzen eines OSSC's mit einem Super Nintendo (NTSC Model) über RGB im line double 5x mode problemlos machbar.Nur mit dem Sound über den OSSC gibt es Probleme. Diesen am Besten dann, wenn man einen OSSC nutzt per Aux über die Soundkarte einspielen und dann ists auch gelöst.Beste Kompatibilität der derzeit gängigen Karten zu vielen Formaten und das gute HDR Tonemapping sowie der vergleichsweise günstigere Preis machen diese Karte hier für mich zum derzeitgen Spitzenreiter.

I can only speak for my personal use case, and for what I bought this for, it's perfect. I bought the 4K Live Gamer for capturing 4K footage of retro games for my youtube channel and it's handled everything I have thrown at it with almost zero lag.If your intention is to use this capture card in a similar way to me, then it will do everything you want. I originally used this with the OSSC, with the 4K Live Gamer accepting every signal I input. I have since bought a Retrotink 5x, and while researching before buying the Retrotink, I saw many not getting the 1440 signal detected by the 4KLG. I bought it anyway, as 1080p was acceptable, and I wanted the composite signal the Retrotink accepts. I was pleasantly surprised when the 4KLG accepted every signal the Retrotink x5 output. This is the same for the OSSC, I saw scaremongering of the same type about OSSC not accepting signals, but unless I received some magical version of the 4KLG, everything works great.Consoles I have tried are as follows; NES, N64, SNES, Megadrive, Mastersystem, PS1, PS2 and OG Xbox. Note though, consoles that require it, have been modded to output an RGB signal (which most stock retro consoles will not do), and I have spent £100s buying the best quality retro cables and modding my consoles which helps the signal quality. Regardless though, at the end of the day, all these consoles signals are being processed through the OSSC or Retrotink 5x, so if you are planning to use these upscalers, this is the ultimate capture card. I cannot speak for older Retrotinks or the Framemeister, but I have seen people struggling with the signal swapping delay and video output of the Framemeister as it is old tech now.Not all is positive though, I found the customer support incredibly unhelpful. I don't believe English was the first language of person I was emailing, so I will go easy. I was getting a popping sound in the audio, and support E-mail reply I got was along the lines of "these are the common fixes, if it doesn't help, we won't offer any further support". I'm paraphrasing of course, but considering the fix had nothing to do with what they offered, I have very little trust in them to offer genuine support.I'll quickly run through some technical setup tips and problem fixes that I had in case it helps someone else. First off, PCIe has become far more complicated, so you might have speed problems based on the age and spec of your PC. PCIe has individual lanes that shares bandwidth when multiple devices are used. I would suggest not buying this if you don't have at least a gen 2 PCIe board, and even then, due to the bandwidth 4K uses, you might have issues if using less than Gen 3. Assuming your 16x lane is housing your GPU, you will probably be using the x8 lane for this card. This is important, because some motherboards will only allow either a M.2 NVME drive, or use of the PCIe slot not both. My point is, it's worth seriously looking into your motherboards specs and how you have configured it before you buy this as the 4x lane will probably be too slow for capturing 4K. Since buying this I have upgraded to an ASUS ROG x670 EXTREME motherboard, which is a top end £1k board paired with a Ryzen 9 7850x3d, if you have anything like this, this card will be no problem at all no matter how you configure it.My second point is related to the problem I was having with the audio cracking. Little embarrassing but make sure you are using good quality HDMI cables and I suggest not using a cable longer than 2m max. After I bought a high quality 4K cable, I realised there was a cable in the 4K Live Gamer box, so fool on me I suppose but it did fix the issue. I can confirm that long HDMI cables will lead to an unstable signal. For me, anything over 2M would cause the picture to keep dropping out.Regardless of the poor customer service, I still give this 5 stars as it really is a fantastic card. I had an Elgato 4K card and it was a nightmare, very picky about signals and cables, making it pretty much trash for what I wanted to use it for. So, in summary, if you are looking for a card that works great with OSSC and Retrotink 5x, this is a must buy over anything Elgato offers. I haven't tested it with modern consoles like PS5 and Xbox series X, but I really can't see it having any issues as they are the modern standard of video signal.Just to be clear, I am using this with a RTX4090, but I was using it in my backup rig with a 2080 Super, and it works just as good rendering a 4K capture. I cannot speak to the compatibility with AMD or Intel GPU's.Hope this helps.*UPADTE*Just a small update, I have since upgraded to the Ryzen 9950X3D, RTX 5090 and most importantly, the RetroTink 4k. Everything still works fine with the new hardware in 2025. As for the RetroTink 4K, the 4KLG handles everything just as good as the RT5X. I will probably upgrade to one of Avermedia's newer capture devices soon, not because the 4KLG is no longer usable, just because I need a second device. This card is still brilliant as of May 2025.

Stop working after 1 year

Generally it is a great one and meet all the features like 4k 60fps. However, when I inserted that one into PCI slot, the card itself bumped the power cable on the motherboard (MSI MAG B660M Mortar btw). It makes bit hard to put the card in also potential risk of damage the cable. So carefully check your motherboard PCI slot before your purchasing this one.

Siehe meine sehr ausführliche Rezension bei elgato (dort mit einem Stern bewertet).Zu der capture Card:Geliefert wurden die capture Card, hdmi 2.0 Kabel, ein serial-Key für das Videobearbeitungsprogramm ( kostet normalerweise um die 50 Euro) , kleine Bedienungsanleitung.Folgendes Sehr wichtig!!! Steht nirgends und auch nicht in diversen inkompletten Tutorials im netz (für Dual pc).Die elgato hd60 pro kann nur 2 k , das heißt das euer Gaming Monitor auf 2 k ebenfalls begrenzt wird beim zocken!!!!! Ich habe 3 k Monitor und möchte selbstverständlich mit 3 k Auflösung spielen. Das geht mit elgato 60hd pro nicht.Die avermedia 4K capture Card kann das aber sehr wohl, und zwar 2k mit bis zu 240 hz, 3k mit 144 hz und 4K mit 60 hz. Die Leute im netz und Tutorials sagten immer (ja man muss sich im netz fortbilden, da es gar keine brauchbare Anleitung vom Hersteller gibt) : wofür brauchst du eine 4K capture Card wenn du nur mit 720p streamen willst? Ja weil dein Gaming Monitor kastriert wird auf 2 k beim zocken!!!!! Deshalb!Ich habe 2 pc‘s.Gaming und Streaming versteht sich.Eingebaut in Streaming pc. Hdmi Kabel in die grafikkarte und von dort in hdmi in Anschluss der capture Card. Aus der Grafikkarte im Gaming pc ein Display Port Kabel zum Gaming Monitor. So , Hardware ist schon angeschlossen. Installieren des Treiber (von der Homepage der avermedia) auf dem Streaming pc. Dann Streaming pc Neustart .Dann am Gaming pc Nvidia Steuerung auf, hier auf mehrere Anzeigen einrichten gehen.Dann Gaming Monitor und die capture Card klonen (bitte im netz schauen wie es geht, ist nicht schwer). Dann eine Auflösung einstellen, diese in meinem Fall 3k 144 hz. Und schon kommt das Bild auf dem Streaming Monitor in der capture Card Software. Ich habe jedoch obs Studio auf dem Streaming pc installiert. Dann die capture Card als Aufnahmegerät/Quelle auswählen. Ihr startet dann immer nur das OBS. Die Software des avermedia NICHT noch mal dazu! Nur obs. Dann wollte ich das der Sound vom Gaming pc ( Team speak, Mikrofon und gamesound) zum Streaming pc bzw obs ankommt. Dies ist tricky, weil Windows nur eine Audiospur weiterleitet, man kann natürlich noch Mikrofon durch die abhörfunktion implementieren, aber in diesem Fall begleitet euch ein ständiges krasses rauschen weil Mikro permanent auf on ist. Teamspeak wäre dann auch nicht dabei. Also keine Lösung. Dann die Variante mit: alles auf Streaming pc installieren und gameplay abhören produziert ein Sound Delay beim zocken!! Geht gar nicht!!So, meine Lösung war:Audio Programm als Freeware : voicemeeter Potato auf BEIDEN pc‘s installieren! Auf Gaming pc dann die 3x Audiospuren zu einem digitalen Kabel zusammenführen (videoanleitung, zumindest teilweise gibts im netz) und dann das für Windows jetzt als einzige Audiospur erkannte virtuelle Kabel am Streaming pc abgreifen ( in obs und in soundeinstellungen des Windows auswählen). Das funktioniert perfekt. Ich habe es auch über Klinke und Audio Kabel von pc zu pc versucht: ein krasses knarzen und Rauschen, da analoge Verbindung und man einen entstörer braucht. Mischpult kaufen usw alles unnötige Geldverschwendung.Habe die Karte paar Tage, bisher gar KEINE Probleme damit. Nicht mal die angeblich instabile Software.Das alles steht nirgendwo erklärt, das ist die Essenz von mehreren Tagen Recherche noch vor dem Kauf der capture Karten (erst die elgato und dann die avermedia, wobei nur die letzte wirklich so funktioniert dass man es wirklich nutzen kann).Vielleicht bringt es euch was.--Kurze Anmerkung, da ich normalerweise nicht so lange Rezensionen schreibe: wenn Ihnen der ausführliche Test hilft Ihre Kaufentscheidung zu treffen bzw. zu überdenken würde ich mich über einen Klick auf "nützlich" freuen.
