It's hard to get enthusiastic about a fork handle, or indeed four candles, however, it seems sturdy and I am now compelled to dig my garden.

It's a straightforward tapered ash shaft with a 'plastic' handle. The wood is unfinished so I gave it a couple of coats of 'Cuprinol' just for added protection as spades often get left outside in the rain. The handle seems tough enough. You will need a rivet or screw to fit the shaft, plenty of these on Amazon or a nut and bolt would do the job but you'd likely skin your hand if it has sharp edges.
