Once you get it set up and get the angle you want (do not bother looking at the angle gauge on this device) you can sharpen blades pretty consistently. There may be the occasional hiccup of something moving but the arm stays pretty straight and the holder works if you tighten it down good and keep an eye on it.

I was in the market for an at home mowing blade sharpening solution. The puck like sharpeners that get checked into a drill just don't work well. Hand filing takes significant time and a steady hand. An expensive dedicated sharpening tool was to much, and to bulky for residential use. This jig/guide is an amazing tool to create repeatable sharpening passes with a common angle grinder. It is rather small and easily stowable and can be either permanently attached to a workbench or used in a vice, like I did in the photo.Setup was easy, just ensure all hardware is secured tight, as the fasteners are loosely installed to begin. The blade holder is easily reversible to hold normal residential blades, or for larger width blades such as commercial blades like the Oregon Gator G6 Blade in the photos. From there you simply attach the angle grinder of your choosing into the guide and consistent grinding angle passes can be made to keep the factor edge angle. It is sturdy and with tight tolerances and has a clean appearance and finish. The packaging includes 4 common thread pitch ears to fit most grinder heads where side handles normally screw in.The instructions are in color, and the packaging was great with custom cut foam for the unit. This is a high quality unit at fair market pricing. Definitely worth the investment if you would like to do your own blade sharpening and extend blade life, and increase cut quality and grass health.

Came fully assembled (who even does that anymore?) 4 different stems included to fit the Handle threads of most any 4-4.5" angle grinder. I mounted mine on a couple pcs of scrap wood, so I can use this while temporarily attached in a vise. Who wants to tie up bench real estate for a sharpening jig, that only gets used once every 2 or 3 months. Works fine, to keep a consistent angle grind, a little sloppy in the articulated joints, but acceptable. Works freely without any resistance... You can tighten the joint bolts, and lessen the (minor) side to side slop, but then it fights you with a little with resistance during use. I assumed 30 degrees would be the normal angle to set. but my blades were closer to 35. You can't really set it to "just any" degree angle. There are notches within the adjustments. Meaning you can't set it to 32 or 37 degrees (easily). Only just the notched 5 degree increments. just match what you already have on your blades, and keep a wet sponge nearby, to you can keep the blade from getting too HOT. Warm is ok, but getting the blade really hot will take the temper out of the metal, and then the blades wouldn't be as hardened, and lose their edge PDQ. Minimal (less) grinding is way better for you, the blades & your Flap disc too. (I use a 40 Grit) This thing is kind of pricey for what it is, and I wouldn't have bought it if I only had ONE mower, but I have many mowers, and most of them have many blades. A nice jig unit, and I won't miss the dropping off, and remembering to go pay & pick up the blades anymore. I keep my blades sharp, so I can mow faster, with out the re-runs for missed patches, and try not to intentionally run over too many blade edge wrecking objects. Pick up the rocks and sticks, or you will be running the same ones over again next week.

After sharpening blades with a bench grinder -- very, very badly -- for years, I was skeptical that this tool would deliver on its promises. Boy, was I wrong! It takes an otherwise tedious and difficult job to do well (for me, anyway) and turns it into a mindlessly easy one. The results speak for themselves. Mount it to a 12" piece of 2x4 and put it in your vice when you need it. Put it on a shelf when you don't. It would be a bargain at twice the price. Buy with confidence and sharpen your mower blades with ease!
