Firstly the price as this is pretty cheap for a stainless steel hinge that is being advertised for a boat.I've spent a bit of time around boats when I lives abroad and the sea is a great equaliser of stainless steel parts.These feel pretty good but only time will tell if they are decent marine stainless steel. The advert mentions 316 stainless steel which is pretty resistant to rust and corrosion.The counter sunk holes feel a little cheap when compared to the rest of the hinges.But perhaps I'm being a bit critical, the key I think, is that these are cheap at £14.96 (There is a 6% off voucher currently).I'll be testing these on the garden swing door initially I think.I fthey are resistant to corrosion than i'd happily give this 5 stars.

These hinges are made from 316 stainless steel which is one of a class of stainless steels called austenitic. 316 contains high quantities of chromium and nickel. It also contains molybdenum and it has excellent, but not complete, protection against corrosion. It is certainly the preferred stainless steel for use at sea. Unlike some other stainless steels, it is also non-magnetic - a good test if you are unsure.These hinges have a lovely bright finish and can be used folded but are probably best used as hinged straps. I say this as I propose to use them as replacements on the lid of my lazarette. Perfect, and five stars.
