For this being a well known, name brand, spinning reel I was surprised with how sticky and clunky the gears were. Each turn of the handle had a distinct clunk. The reel would only continue to spin for maybe two revolutions after releasing handle from a fast paced speed. It would just come to a halt. The name brand Japanese reel company's lowest models feel better than this reel. It compares to a discount reel from cheap import companies. Reel was returned for refund.

I was excited to get this reel in as I needed an upgrade from my cheap reel. It's Abu's brand new line of Max reels.I was painfully disappointed when trying to slow crawl a weightless texas rig. When slowly cranking the reel, it seems to catch and slow down and just feels downright awful and clunky. Medium and fast speeds are fine, but it basically ruins the experience when fishing slow.Not sure if I just got a faulty one or not but I'll probably be refunding this and trying out the $100 Max Elite and see if it's any better.
