As a ham radio operator, I know one undeniable truth: if water gets into your coax, it’s game over. Once moisture wicks its way into that feedline, you might as well use it as a very expensive rope because it’ll never work right again. That’s why proper weatherproofing is essential, and after testing ADHES Premium Butyl Sealant Tape, I can confidently say this stuff is the real deal.First Impressions – Packaging & Ease of UseRight out of the box, the presentation is excellent. The rolls are neatly wound, easy to peel, and don’t require a wrestling match to get started. Some butyl tapes can be sticky nightmares, but this one lets you pull off just what you need without turning your hands into a rubbery mess. That’s a win in my book.Sealing Performance – Absolutely Top NotchOnce applied, this tape does exactly what it’s supposed to do - create a seamless, waterproof, and airtight barrier. It conforms perfectly to coaxial connectors, SO-239 bulkheads, and pretty much anything else you need to weatherproof. It self-adheres beautifully, blending into a smooth seal with no gaps for water to sneak through.I’ve tested it across a wide range of temperatures, and it holds up just fine. Unlike electrical tape or liquid sealants, which either crack in the cold or melt in the heat, this stuff stays flexible and effective. That’s exactly what you want for long-term outdoor installations.Where It Shines✔ Antenna feedlines & coax connectors – Keeps your RF setup dry and signal loss-free.✔ Outdoor electrical boxes – Perfect for sealing around conduit entries.✔ Leaky car headlights & taillights – Stops condensation from fogging up your lights.✔ RV & boat maintenance – Seals windows, hatches, and seams against leaks.✔ Workshop fixes – Works on gutters, HVAC ductwork, and even tool grips.A Few CaveatsNow, as much as I love this tape, it’s not a miracle solution for everything. Here are a couple of things to watch out for:❌ Doesn’t bond well to some plastics – If you’re working with polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), or PTFE (Teflon), don’t expect a strong hold. PTFE is especially common in coax connectors and cable insulation, so keep that in mind for RF applications.❌ Not the easiest to remove – Like any good sealant, it’s meant to stay put. If you ever need to take it off, expect some effort and maybe a little residue.Final Verdict – A Must-Have for WeatherproofingAll things considered; this is the best butyl sealant tape I’ve used. It outperforms traditional electrical tape and liquid sealants, stays flexible, seals completely, and works across a wide range of temperatures. Whether you’re keeping water out of coax connectors, sealing an RV window, or fixing a leaky headlight, this tape is a smart investment.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Five stars—because once water gets in, it’s too late.

This tape remains soft and malleable even under dishwasher heated water resulting in the occasional plate sticking to the tape. Otherwise, this tape is everything promised and expected in terms of heat tolerance and water proofing.I used it to wrap rusted wire areas of my dishwasher baskets.

So at first I was hesitant because this butyl compared to another brand I had, was a lot thinner and so I was afraid it would not create a good seal on a rv window install I was doing. Turns out, it was just right. In one of my pictures, you will see a competitor brand that’s black. The reason why this brand was better is that I was dealing with a delicate rv window and if the butyl was any thicker, it would of cause me to have to torque the 20 plus screws more to draw the window to the frame. This butyl was perfect. It also had a good amount of stickiness to it, which is good so that when I lifted to place the window in place, the butyl didn’t fall off which it does with some other brands. This butyl was easy to work with and so I highly recommend it.

I ordered this to weatherproof some antenna work I'm going to do on my roof. This stuff is handy for all sorts of things, as alluded to in the product description. It's good to have extra in the toolbox! The variant I ordered was "Size: 1" x 1/8" x 30' " of product titled "ADHES Premium Butyl Sealant Tape 1" x 30 'x 1/8", 2 Rolls Gray Butyl Rubber Sealant Tape for RVs, Vehicles, Marine and Home Repair – Ideal for Headlights, Windows, Doors, and Windshields"As you can see from my photos, the 1" width is accurate. Also note that two rolls of the tape are included.A trick I've seen online for this butyl sealing tape is to wrap with electrical tape first if you plan to cut this stuff off later, like if you're sealing an antenna coupler. That will make removal much easier if you need to change it out in the future. And wrapping UV-resistant electrical tape over the top of your newly butyl tape wrapped project will protect from the environment even more if this is exposed to the sun. I will be experimenting. What I know is that this sealing tape will seal to itself and become one, unable to unravel later.

This review is for the ADHES Premium Butyl Sealant Tape 1" x 30 'x 1/8", 2 Rolls Gray Butyl Rubber Sealant Tape for RVs, Vehicles, Marine and Home Repair – Ideal for Headlights, Windows, Doors, and Windshields. Can't have too much of this stuff around. It's the best for waterproofing, making things airtight, and it also helps to soundproof. Just make sure where you're placing it because yopu'll ,have a devil of a time removing it! LOL. I've even had trouble pulling my finers loose from this stuff before LOL! This stuff is just great for weatherproofing. I used some to seal up the glass all around the wooden frame of an old window that no longer had any seal/caulking left, I couldn't believe how much warmer it was out there with it all air/water tight now! Super happy with it!.This stuff is great to use on roofs, RV's, to seal up around a skylight, chimney, windows... just tons of uses!List price $ 29.99 per the listing for the 2 roll pack that's 1 inch X 30 feet X 1/8 inch thick, currently offered at $27.99. This stuff is expensive because it's good quality and it works! But as I always say, watch for a sale/coupon, browse listings... There are coupons available if you can use them.As always I only do honest reviews and update if needed. I hope this helps you make the best choices how to spend your $.
