The quality is amazing. Especially for the price compared to other aviation oriented cases/products. I was initially worried about the magnetic attachment of the case, but my worry was unwarranted as I've never had an issue with the ipad detaching from the case. The kneeboard is comfortable and attaches easily with velcro. I also appreciate the magnetic apple pencil holder. Overall I am impressed with the quality and functionality of this product.

I haven't put a ton of miles on it yet, but I'm impressed so far. Great quality, and nice functions in a compact design. Perhaps most of all, excellent and responsive customer service. Over New Years we went on vacation and took just the iPad case portion of the kit. It was unfortunately stolen during the trip. I contacted Crystal Pilot and explained the situation and that I only needed the case. They quickly responded and went above and beyond to help me out. Thank you!

Just tried it out and it’s amazing. I really like the magnetic iPad holder because I can use it when I’m not flying. The clip board is also very useful because it has both vfr and ifr information on it. Overall great quality and very well designed

I have the crystal pilot folio and upgraded to this one due to the extra versatility. Being able to attach the iPad to the kneeboard and easily remove in flight due to magnetic case is a huge plus. I can easily attach a small flashlight and store my phone in the side pocket for easy access. I am concerned about the longevity due to the materials but we will see. I made one modification that made all the difference for me. Unlike the folio, the clipboard does not attach to the cover of the iPad case. I fixed this with a couple pieces of Velcro. Using the sleeve to hold the clipboard in conjunction with the iPad is virtually impossible otherwise. I would recommend it be designed in such a way that the kneeboard can fold and Velcro closed for easy storage. So far this is my favorite kneeboard. Hopefully the next design will check all the boxes.

I currently mount my ipad mini to the yoke in the cockpit but prefer a small kneeboard to grab ATIS, copy clearances, jot notes, etc. I was looking for something a little more robust then just a plain metal kneeboard and strap. I wanted someplace to easily holds pens & pencils, charts, etc. I also wanted the flexibility to be able to easily move my ipad from yoke-mount to the kneeboard. I can't comment yet on how it functions with the ipad because I do not yet use mine with the ipad. I modified mine. The ipad "Folio" that is included attaches to the kneeboard portion via velcro. I purchased some additional velcro and attached it to the back of the metal kneeboard. Like many kneeboards, it appears to be designed to slide the metal kneeboard into a "sleeve" to hold it in place. However, I wanted access to the great quick-access info printed on the kneeboard. So attaching velcro to the back allows me to stick it right to where the ipad Folio would go and then run the clear-plastic strap beneath it, with the velcro then locking that strap in place. Works perfectly for my uses! I've got the folio part of it in my flight bag. In a pinch, I can stuff my ipad into the folio, remove my kneeboard and slide it into the sleeve that was meant for it, and then attach the folio to the velcro. Several kneeboards on the market have similar features, but I like this one because its small. So many of the others are very very long. This kneeboard gives me a spot for pencils and pens, a binder holes if I wish to put charts there, and a very small form factor clipboard and kneeboard. I'm of small stature and this fits perfectly on my thigh without going so far down my knee that its awkward beneath the yoke in the cockpit. The creator of the product also included a whole bunch of nice, hard plastic quick-access placards and notes as well as a nice light gun cheat sheet card on a business sized card that fits perfectly in a kneeboard pocket. This other thing I really like is that the "sleeve" (which I did not use for the clipboard as intended) fits a "compact" size Checkmate Checklist (5x7) perfectly. I purchase 5x7 card stock in bulk through Amazon and those round-cornered blank cards fit the metal clipboard perfectly for jotting notes and don't dance or flip all around from the vents in the cockpit blowing air or get wrinkled and folded when being stuffed in and out of a flight bag. I stuff one of the manufacturer's quick access cards on the clipboard beneath my card stock. This way I can easily access my notes on the cardstock, one of the included placards, the quick-access info on the face of the metal clipboard, or my Checkmate Checklist in the sleeve. For my specific uses, I give it 5 stars. As one small negative, the clear plastic "strap" that is permanently attached on one end and velcro on the other (used for strapping down charts so they don't flip and riffle in the cockpit) should be removable. Its permanently attached at one end and if you don't need it to strap down charts, it gets in the way. You can tuck it behind the clipboard like I did, and its fine, but I'd prefer just to remove it entirely. I don't remove any stars from the rating but, I'd suggest including a set of binder "rings" with the kneeboard. It comes with everything else someone might need...even a luggage tag light-gun cheat card. Might as well include the rings as well so someone doesn't have to order separately. Folks use ringed-charts less often these days but, on the day you decide you want to use the binder portion at the last minute, you won't have to wait for an amazon order then. I'd also suggest including those velcro strips I used on the back of the metal clipboard. It adds the functionality of the product immensely. The manufacturer (who already has YouTube videos on his products) would also need to include a YouTube video demonstrating the use. It just gives the user yet another way to make the product meet their needs. The metal clipboard is the PERFECT size for me, and the default "face" of the clipboard is "VFR". The backside is "IFR". I don't think one could "reverse" that without removing rivets. It looks permanent to me (although maybe its easy to reverse and I just don't know how). However, if its permanent and can't be easily reversed, there is no harm with putting some velcro strips there. IFR or VFR, the info on the VFR face of the clipboard is handy to have. Also, I e-mailed the owner directly and he was very kind to work with. I explained my needs and he was very helpful. This is the second product I've purchased with him and am very happy with both.
