A friend recommended I buy these roof rack pads for my solo kayak adventures. They work so awesome. I just put them on the roof rack bars. They stay securely in place as they have strong a strong hook and loop system (velcro). I can lift and tilt my kayak from the back end of my car onto the pads, facing top down, then slide until the back of the seat hits the back bar. Then I simply throw the straps over each end and tighten down. I've been doing it this way for 4 years and it's perfect! No need to purchase an expensive kayak rack. My we have an inflatable SUP that we throw in the truck which makes adventures on the lake with just a small VW Golf possible!
