This is a sturdy trowel. The shovel part is thick, strong and tightly connected to the hefty wooden handle. The handle feels good in my hand until I start pushing into the soil to dig deeply because it is not contoured to stop your hand from sliding. The wooden handle slides and then presses into my palm. I can stop it from doing so, but must concentrate on holding the trowel, which is hard to do when I am thinking about the plants.

This hand shovel is well worth the money.It is very well made,easy to hold a lot of dirt at one time.I used it to dig out my sprinkler head it did a great job and a lot faster than my old one...

IHad high hopes for this item and it exceeded my expectations. It is very well built, both the steel, the wooden handle and the connection of the two components.

This is one high-quality garden instrument. It's well made and looks like it will last a lifetime--the joints from wood to metal are tightly formed and the "neck" part where the handle meets the spade is substantial. I've had trowels in the past that over time and with use break down, but this does not appear to be one of those. The handle is solid wood, and while not ergonomic, still feels comfortable in the hand. The spade part is smooth to the touch, but sharp enough to cut through packed dirt. This piece was made to last!
