So this arrived very quickly. The directions are clear, not a lousy photocopy as seems to happen so often with things that arrive to Amazon via China. I sat down on my kitchen floor to put it together. Nope. I didn't get all fancy. I'm wearing my comfy indoor clothes. All total it took me about 15 or 20 minutes to unbox, take the plastic off, review the directions and put it together. There are two mirroring pieces that you put together with four shorter posts. It's labeled as piece number one, and there are four tubular parts that connect it to its twin. By looking at the directions, I figured out that putting the inner most tubes on first and connecting the mirroring pieces, made it easier. Because the basket has to be connected onto the outer four screws between the mirroring pieces. If you have the directions in front of you, or look at the picture of the directions in my review, you'll see what I'm talking about. Other than that it's pretty straightforward and simple. If all you have are the tools that they give you in the box (a small wrench and a screwdriver) you can put this together. That's exactly what I did. I found it was still a little wobbly and that the wrench that they included along with the screwdriver really weren't enough to get it tightened and free of the wobbles. I whipped out my Craftsman ratchet set and used a 10 mm socket and got it tightened to the point where the wobbles were about 97% gone. That being said, again for the price, I'm not super worried about it. Included a picture in my review that shows that the feet are not even. When I set it on the counter, one foot is a good quarter of an inch shorter than the other. The feet really aren't terribly stable. Again as long as you aren't planning on using this for anything super heavy duty, you should be fine.So while I am going to put a 100 ft hose on it as that is what it's rated for, most of the hose sits on the ground and runs to my raised bed gardens. Likely there will only be about 20 feet of extra hose that will hang on this. I wish I could have installed this in a super easy spot that was just soft dirt or turf. Unfortunately, that was not the case. I needed this for a bit of a remote garden spigot. And it's going into gravel. Therefore I ended up having to use a screwdriver and mallet to pre-hammer some holes through the gravel and into the ground. To me the four spiky feet did not look like they were strong enough to withstand being pushed or stepped on in order to secure them into the ground. And I would be right. I carefully used my softer mallet to help tap the spikes into the pre-done holes. I still couldn't get it down in the ground as far as I wanted. But I simply secured it by filling in the gravel and then putting a bunch of bricks around the feet. It will be fine for its intended purpose.

I do recommend the Fire Beauty Heavy-Duty Garden Hose Holder with Storage Basket if you are in the market for a hose rack. We have a ton of hoses but the only rack we had before this one is an old wheel hung on the side of the pump house. It does a decent job but its not really fitting for around the home. This new one is plenty sturdy to very nicely hold a heavy duty stainless steel hose and an attached watering wand resting nicely on the top basket. For me, this is one of those items that I did not realize how much I needed it until I had it. I had been putting up with ugly and twisty hoses languishing around the front of the property and deck area to do my flower and landscape watering for years. Now I feel like I moved up a notch on the chain of home owner evolution. This rack is tasteful and adds a little bit of class to the side of the deck and makes me look like I know what I'm doing out there. And even though it is sturdy cast iron, its not big and bulky but more light weight and I like that because I don't have other big looking stuff out there. The Amazon description makes the following claim "premium black stainless steel screws resist corrosion and maintain a sleek, durable finish, even in rainy or humid conditions" and "weather resistant and long lasting". THIS is what I will be expecting for the long term win because we live in a very rainy climate and this thing is exposed to the elements. Cross my fingers and hope it holds out like advertised because I like this hose rack quite a lot and I think it is a pretty decent value for the price. On construction I see talked about in other reviews, I did not personally put this together I was at work. So I asked how it went and the answer was a shrug and a no big deal. Some people are better at these types of things and he is so one of those so it is all relative to the person's expectations of "ease of use" I suppose.Overall we are happy to have this on the property and it's making the watering easier. Thanks.

I already had one hose holder and ordered this one for the hose in another part of my yard. It works great, feels sturdy and reliable, but it was a little more complicated to assemble than the other. Still, I'm happy with it. It holds the hose beautifully and looks great as well!

I love that I can put this in my garden, away from any structures, to help tidy the hose extension I use for hand-watering. It is sturdy and does its job well (although I'm not sure I would trust it with an 80 lb load—50 lb, yes). I am taking a star off because of the rudimentary instructions that leave out some important information, as well as some messy welds that may impact its long-term outdoor durability. I do recommend this hose caddy, however, and it's a good value for $30.Assembly was not difficult per se, but it was somewhat fiddly. Patience is your friend here. A few things to know before you put yours together! One, it was not immediately obvious to me that the curved side pieces (for the hose roll part) are not identical on each side; one side will lie flat and the other will not. There wasn't any note about this in the manual, so initially I thought it was a manufacturing defect—it is not! Just flip that piece around and it will lie flat on the post so you can screw it in with no gaping. Two, I had trouble getting the two post supports to fit together at first. They did eventually slide together to I could fasten them with the screws provided.Three, don't screw in all the bracers (the bars on which the rolled hose will sit) before you attach the basket. Again, it was not immediately obvious that the outside screws for those bars need to pass through the wire loops that hold up the basket. (One thing I liked about how they organized the pieces is the screws were already set in the bars, which reduced the chances of them being lost in transit. However, the instructions were laid out in a way that—initially— made me think I was missing screws. Nope, they were just shown separate from the bag of screws for the post. Confusing, yes, but pragmatic.)

Let's start with the reason I took a star off. The instructions are terrible. Like, really bad. Confusing. I think trying to follow the instructions actually made the item harder to assemble than if I had just thrown them out and tried to figure it out on my own. In the instructions, the first page lists the parts. Each is numbered. Ok, fine. the other page shows a diagram of how the pieces go together. Ok, that's great. No written instructions are provided. OK, not great, but not unusual. There are numbers in red circles, which you would assume are assembly steps. No! They're just the parts label numbers form the first page. They don't tell you in what order to assemble parts, which is an issue, because the order you assemble the parts absolutely matters. As a result assembly took longer than it should have, because I needed to remove things and reattach them and figure out how it all went together from the diagram. It was frustrating. And that's frustrating itself because it's clear that someone took the time to try to make the process easy. The kit includes all the tools you need to assemble the stand, including the screwdriver! Many of the screws were attached to the appropriate pieces already. And the diagram is fairly detailed, just not in the ways it actually needed to be detailed. However, the product itself is great. Once assembled, it's sturdy. It's fairly well constructed, given the price point. And most importantly, if does the job and does it well. I love the little basket to hold additional nozzles. And though the pictures don't show this, there are stakes on the base so you can press it into the ground so it stays where you put it. Perfect for my use. (If you want to move it frequently, that may not work for you.)So overall, assembly was annoying, but the product is excellent.
