This is a great little starter set of simple landscape design tools. I like the two little stencils which come with an array of circles and shrub shapes that work well for my purposes, as well as the bendable curve tool, which can be handy for those days when I'm feeling frustrated that I can't quite get my curve right. It's fun to be able to bend this first before applying pencil to paper.The graph paper pad is also useful, though they could have made it more so with a very firm backing that could be used almost more as a clipboard in the field.They also have a little pamphlet which tries to describe basic landscape design principles for the beginner. As a professional landscape designer, picking up tools for my team to use out on site, the pamphlet wasn't needed, but they did cover some good basics.

I wish I'd had this when laying out my garden. I continue to enlarge it, so I will use this in the future. I also do some consulting on gardens, so this is coming in handy. I had some other templates, but it's nice to have ones that are appropriate and not approximate.

If you're the type who prefers pencil and paper design this is perfect. This kit has everything you need to hand craft a bird's eye view for landscape design. In particular I like the included grid drafting paper which already includes a legend and reference points which I would normally have to add in manually. The bendable ruler was very helpful too when creating curves as it provides a rough guide before pencil to paper. And lastly, the plastic stencils had more then enough choices to create overhead foliage or hard surface areas.I've used both pen and paper and programs like Visio, yet I find this a lot easier to navigate. Also, with something physical in hand, its much easier to take with you to a plant store or work with a gardener to illustrate your ideas.

What a great idea! I wish I knew this Garden tutor kit existed before this garden season started. I sketched out my garden in a regular notebook and didn’t have the templates and ruler that came with this kit. I’m a bit of a perfectionist and sketching round things & square things in the garden that look lopsided, really bother me. Now I can use the template to make perfect circles and the bendable ruler that will allow me to keep my drawing to scale, especially in those places that are not perfect circles or 90° angles. I haven’t even gotten to my first spring/summer harvest yet in 2025 but I’m already looking forward to planning my Fall 2025 garden using this kit. It seems that every year I move things around in my garden area and without making drawings it’s difficult to think everything through and something always gets forgotten. That’s the reason I really want to have this kit on hand so over the winter I can sketch as I think through garden ideas for the spring. If you are serious about visually planning your garden, this kit will be helpful.

I absolutely love this kit. As a first time home owner, this is invaluable when planning a yard. It contains 5 items:a quick start guidea large pad with 40 pages of grid paper in landscape orientation (no pun intended)a booklet of 4 sheets/8 pages with hints and considerations to think about as your plana flexible ruler (inches/metric) that you can shape and it holds that shapeand two template.These are exactly as the pictures show them. They are of good quality, and should last a long time if stored with any reasonable care. The paperwork is easy to follow even for a novice like me. I went to a local nursery with a few questions, but that was for plants for my region. The kit really helps to visualize your plan. And if I can’t manage to do it all at once, I’ll have my plan so I can add to the master plan as I’m able to, without going off track or having to wonder what I wanted in ‘that’ spot.
