I worked in the film/video industry for over twenty years, consequently, I have experience with all kinds of tripod/monopods. As soon as I started putting this one together, I was astonished at how well-made it is for such a good price. All metal (except latches, of course), thoughtfully designed, and lightweight. I immediately thought of the multiple uses of this thing!Several years ago, I took up golfing. I was a good athlete in my youth, but that confidence can only get you so far in golf. Hence, I recently took a golf lesson and realized I needed the ability to look at my swing to improve it. As an Amazon Vine reviewer, I got the opportunity to try this product out - and give it an honest review good or bad. Unlike the last product I reviewed, which I gave one star, this little tripod surpassed my expectations.I actually had fun putting together the tripod to use with my iPhone 12. I put the MagSafe little metal circle - which comes with the tripod package - onto my iPhone protector because the thickness of the protector didn’t allow the magnet to hold the phone to the tripod mount. I then put the phone on the tripod and was quite impressed at the strength of the magnetic hold. No fear of the phone falling off. It also comes with a lightweight nylon carrying bag that fits nicely into my golf bag.I used to teach film production and one suggestion I have when you use this tripod is to put one of the three legs in the direction the phone is aimed - as an added insurance for stability. (See photo) That is something we always taught in film school. Although I have used this tripod without doing that, it helps to keep it from tipping over if bumped. The other reviewer mentioned his concerns about stability if you put this tripod up five feet, but for my purposes, I don't need to go that high.By the way, this tripod has many uses. The first thing I used it for was a hands-free FaceTime call. I used Siri to instruct the phone to make the call. It worked great! I can see multiple scenarios for using this tripod: sport training feedback, group photos, how-to cell phone videos, just chatting hands-free, or taking pictures without your hands shaking. I recommend it with no hesitation.

Despite stating in the title that it works with Android phones, this is only compatible with iPhones. I was very excited to receive this to help with filming for my business. The setup was very straightforward and it comes with a convenient bag to pack it in. However, there is no grip on the outside to hold your phone in place. Instead, it is all magnetic. This means that you must remove your phone case, attach it to the magnet, and hope it stays connected. When trying an iPhone, it worked. However, all other phones slid and fell off. This seems like a horrible flaw in product design and testing.

After opening the packaging, I thought this felt like a very sturdy stand. It was lightweight, probably aluminum, well made, easy to use clips, and slides smoothly. It extended to about 6 feet, so it had plenty of length. But to stand on the ground, you have to screw in some spikes/legs into the bottom and they were very short. Those legs were nicely stored in an included compartment handle and it didn’t take long to take them out and attach them (probably around a minute or two). After attaching it, I placed it on the ground, and it already felt wobbly. Then I attached my phone to the nice mag-safe holder, and I was very worried it was going to tip over. I made sure to really tighten the legs but the fact that they were really short and close to horizontal (not much of an angle coming from the stand) made it unsteady. Since I got it to record at the gym, I’m afraid a small bump will send the whole thing over and with my luck, my phone would into a stack of metal weights and good bye iPhone. If you are just going to use it as a selfie stick, I think it would be great but not as a stand. Oops, I went to write my review and noticed that the title of this item was golf monopod stick. So, I guess the spikes do make sense and it would probably work on the tee box or at the driving range (if you are on the grass) to record your swings. Without the grass to did dig into, I would not recommend. Your regular driving range that only has concrete bays or somewhere like TopGolf would not work, due to its unsteady stance. So this has a very specific use.Pros: Quality materials, solid magnetic phone holder, expands to 6 feet tall, convenient carry for legsCons: Not very sturdy with legs being so short and flat, when expanded to full height and phone on stand it wobbles, have to attach/detach feet manually

Current price point at the time/date of this review: $69.99 with no discount/coupon being offered. Pricing is fair all things considered although a small or decent coupon/discount offering would always be appreciated.Intended for golf however it can be used for virtually any activity or setting and comes with either a tripod or stake base setting making it highly suitable for both indoor/outdoor events. I suspect the stake will work even at the beach in sand if you stake it deep enough. I like this one for that reason.Feels more like a mono pod than a selfie stand based on the material grade quality and overall design and form factor along with the clips for height extension - love how they are clips and not those awkward tensioning knobs - and overall collapses and can be disassembled relatively quick for easy storage.Overall it’s a good quality set and love that it is Magsafe friendly and you don’t have to bother with those awkward spring loaded tension phone holding adapters. Perfectly convenient and innovative and efficient.
