It's a green laser, the dot is bright even in well lit areas. However, the beam is only visible in the dark and despite looking like a higher powered pointer it cannot burn anything or light matches; not officially tested, but maximum power output 15-20 milliwatts I'd say. The only functional difference between this and a cheaper pointer is higher build quality.Fairly heavy and durable, but charging cable is a bit short. Laser goggles not required as blink reflex is sufficient, but regardless of lack of power do not actively shine into eyes as prolonged exposure *will* cause injury.

Apparently it can only be on for 30second at a time as instructed on card with it, and to take battery out when not using (no tool supplied) not sure where to get one
