This seems to work fairly reliably for triggering the alarm, not had any false alarms yet (that I'm aware of). I wouldn't trust it as my only form of security - it is a deterrent rather than a serious physical deterrent, but you only needs to a worse option than the next guy! For the size and weight of it, it's worth having in your bag. Would recommend

I'm reviewing this in the context of a cycle lock. In common with many cyclists I have several bikes and some of them were quite a significant outlay. Of the collection I have, 3 have disk brakes and 2 of them are compatible with this lock.Out and about, I can clip the lock through the front disk and it will prevent the bike being wheeled away, but it will not stop anyone picking it up and moving it. For a reasonable level of security I will always use a D lock to lock the bike to something immovable and I also loop a cable through the front wheel into the D lock. What this does offer thought is an audible alert that my bike has been moved. Out and about this week I stopped at one of my regular coffee stops and locked the bike as normal. I also put the disk lock on as an additional factor. Halfway through my cake and coffee the alarm sounded and I shot out to see what was happening. It was just another rider trying to park their bike up and they had moved mine causing the alarm to sound. It was good t find that this worked then.On a practical basis, the lock can be charged using USB and that avoids all that messing about with batteries. The lock is small enough to fit in a shirt pocket (cycling shirt) and it offers a degree of assurance for the cases where someone moves your bike.Is it the only security measure you will ever need? I suppose it would make wheeling a motor cycle away white a challenge, but a bike could be picked up and taken easily without additional locks in place. It would possible deter a thief as the alarm sounded, but as we have seen balaclava clad kids with portable angle grinders in plain daylight, I doubt that would be all we needed. It is a visible and audio deterrent to the opportunist bike thief and that has to be a positive.
