Best two sided tape I have found for woodworking. Holds well after clamping pressure then releases easily with. damaging veneers. Can also soften with alcohol or laquer thinner to ease release. Wish it was cheaper, but worth the extra cost

Holding thin, flat workpieces on a mill can be challenging. The traditional techniques is to clamp them in a vise. However, for thin workpieces this ranges from sub-optimal to completely unworkable. (Since I am not writing to machinists, I will skip the details of 'why.')Acting on advice from machinists, I tried the double-sided sticky tape method. Cleaning and degreasing both the mill table and the underside of the workpiece is vital. After that, the procedure is straightforward. I simply covered an area on the mill table a little larger than the workpiece with the double sided tape, ensured there were no wrinkles, and then pressed the workpiece onto it. Next, I lightly tapped the workpiece down with a rubber hammer.The double sided tape held the workpiece solid as I fly cut it with the mill. (Pardon the technical term.) Fly cutting only removes a few thousandths of an inch per pass. In this experiment, I removed up to 0.005" per pass. The tape held the workpiece solidly in place. At no time did I feel any hint of workpiece instability. (It is also sub-optimal to have a workpiece come flying out of the mill at your midsection.)Both the workpiece and tape were extremely easy to remove. As I pried the workpiece off the mill table, most of the tape came with it leaving only a speck on the surface of the table, which I removed with a fingernail. The tape easily came off the workpiece.I will DEFINITELY add Intertape 591 Premium Golf Grip Tape to my milling machine 'hold down' techniques!
