I paint minis, so wter based acrylic paint on plastic. This is not my first sable brush. This is easily the worst. As you can see (hopefully) from the picture, the hairs almost immediately started splitting. I tried all the tricks to help it, but I would definitely NOT recommend this brush.

Pretty decent brush for the price. I only got the #0 brush, which is not a size I use a lot of, as it is too small to get much work done. I used this one to paint the aileron looking things on the model picture. Ignore the paint on the leading edge of the arm wing. That was a mistake I made with a different brush. This brush held and released paint well. The working time and paint load was short and small, but good for a #0 brush. I didn't have any trouble with the tip holding, and after my usual washing with brush soap at the end of my painting, I was not able to detect any signs of wear. Though to properly judge this, I would need a lot more time with it and many painting sessions.The handle is a good length and thickness. I had no problems holding it, and it was thin enough to get into some awkward places on this model that a thicker brush would have struggled with. It was also not so thin that my fingers cramped from holding such a tiny thing. That said, the handle on mine is warped and has a strong curve to it. This really doesn't affect its performance, but it is a bit annoying as I have to be careful when I adjust my grip that I am not changing where the brush tip sits relative to my hand too much.I did have to trim a stray hair that stuck out way past the tip, but this is typical of kolinsky sable brushes in my experience and is easily fixed with a quick nip.There are cheaper synthetic brushes that are good enough, and there are more expensive higher quality brushes. This one is somewhere in the middle. It doesn't over or underperform for what I would expect at this price point, so it is a perfectly good choice if you are looking for a middle of the road brush.

I had high hopes for this brush, but I was pretty disappointed by it. It seems like most people receive good brushes, so maybe I just got a dud. The brush I received had several bristles bent back by the protective cap upon receipt. I was willing to live with that and carefully washed it, as I do all new brushes. It then began splitting after just having water on it. I considered returning it, but decided it wasn't worth the hassle. I use it for base-coating miniatures now, and it does that job fairly well. It does hold a good amount of paint and, when you can make the brush hold something of a shape, it lays it down nicely too. It does seem to be made of hair, though I'm not familiar enough with the qualities of Sable to say that's what it actually is. Overall, I don't think it's worth what I paid for it, but if it didn't have the flaws I mentioned, I would be.
