The vest runs on the small side. It's not particularly attractive but it's better than the other I have from the American MS Assoc. That one looked so much like a bullet proof vest that I had to get a 'MEDICAL' patch for it. The achilles heel are the ice packs. While you get a bunch, you have to fill them yourself with water. The water turns to gel and there's your ice pack. The problem is that the opening for the water is only about an half inch, making it tedious to fill. The water doesn't just fill it. You have to drizzle it or it bubble over the spout. Also, it doesn't turn to gel immediately so you have to prop it up. I mean, it's semi fast, but not fast enough that you can lay it down after you (finally) get it filled. I can't imagine filling 10 bags at once. I'm also not sure how long the bags will last. They seem a little thin. Overall, I'm not dazzled. For the price, you get what you paid for. It's great for mowing the yard or after a trip to the gym but nothing long. Performance is okay.

It's made of nice material and doesn't feel cheap. I don't like that there aren't any drawstrings or anything like that to keep the ice packs from swinging around if you're active at all. There are extra ice packs that have a gel powder in them that you can freeze and replace them as they thaw out. This vest has been a lifesaver while working in the extreme heat of the summers in central California.i love the fact that there are pockets in this vest.

The vest is true to size and not bad. I like that you can fill it with ice packs. The 24 "ice" bags that come with it are NOT ice bags. They are thin bags with powder in them that turns water to gel. You are then instructed to put the gel pack in the REFRIGERATOR, not the freezer. Following the instructions did not provide as much cooling as just not wearing the vest. We then tried freezing the bags but they came out very hard and misshapen and some of them spiked and caused a leak. So then we tried using the vest with some quality ice packs we have and we got pretty good results that way. The real test for this vest would be to use it in high heat – not happening at this time around here, so it will be a while until I can do a real life test. I can tell that this vest works to keep the body temperature down, but I cannot tell for how long in real usage, under heat. The vest is made of a lightweight and rather thin material, but it seems to have some thermal insulation, which in this case is supposed to keep the cold in and the heat out. The vest has good coverage for the size, good fit with no movement restriction. The cold packs are insulated from direct skin contact (well, almost direct, through the thin fabric of the pockets) using bubble wrap bags, and six such bags are provided to match the six pockets in the vest, while there are 24 ice packs. To be honest, I am not enthusiastic of this design choice: bubbles wrap cells will burst on leaning over or pressing against furniture or walls or other things, decreasing the insulation effectiveness over time. I would prefer good quality insulation in the vest’s pockets or dedicated pouches made of some fleece. One concern that I have is whether there will be condensing on the cold areas in humid heat – cannot tell until the weather does create this setup.By the instructions, the ice packs only need to be filled with water and there is a substance inside these that transforms the water into a gel, no need to seal the bag opening. Well, the gel is not solid until frozen, so I had to bring my well trusted roll of duct tape to solve this engineering problem by safely sealing these bags for good measure. To me, it looks a bit sketchy to leave this aspect open to my inventiveness (which is a pretentious word for duct-tape, of course). Then, it looks like there is no going back and forth between the 450ml filling and 250ml, chose either one and the chemical reaction settles the bag to that volume forever. At this point I have a question: how long is “forever”? There is no word of the gel degrading over time, but I doubt there is no limit to the useful life of this compound. I hope these bags do remain usable for years, still I would like the instructions to tell me whether this is a reasonable expectation.Not factored into the rating, but I found it weird that there is a writing on the box providing the contact info for a company that seems to be the support line for this product, but the written statement is a disclaimer that they are not the manufacturer but represent the manufacturer without having much to do with the product. Not stated: what do they actually do, why would one call them. First time that I see such a disclaimer where a statement of endorsement would be expected. Again, I did not factor this into my rating as this does not change the functionality of the product, and I expect there is support from the manufacturer, either mediated or direct via contacting through amazon.

Runs very small. You also have some work to do before the cooling can begin but the instructions aren't clear. It comes with 24 bags with some powder inside them that you are supposed to fill with water but the "water inlet" clear plastic isn't easy to use. Then you wait until the water turns to gel, then you place the bags in the fridge for use later. Not sure if the water bags are reusable because the water inlet opening doesn't look resealable, and what will happen when they become warm from body heat - does the gel turn back to water and will your jacket get wet, or does it stay gel-like once the water has been added. The pockets (6) on the jacket have a small velcro at the top to keep the water bag from falling out.The jacket itself is lightweight as it's 100% polyester and comfortable enough if it fit.
