Expensive but worth it for my husband who has a bad back. He doesn’t have to bend so much. Long handles, Light weight and razor sharp. Quality item.

I bought these because my lawn edges were a mess and my back and other mobility problems no longer allow me to use my strimmer to tidy them. The grass was encroaching across the paving up to 6 inches in some places after 2-3 years of neglect and it was driving me nuts. I've used edging shears in the past but always hated them as they chewed up the grass rather than cutting it, and left my shoulders aching. Obviously they were poor quality. So having read the reviews on these I ordered and kept my fingers crossed.I tried them out for the first time today, what a joy. The blades sliced through the inch-thick mats of turf like a hot knife through butter. There really is nothing better than a well made tool that does its job perfectly, it's a pleasure to use. These are worth every penny. The long handles meant I wasn't trying to bend at the angle that has my back screaming in pain using the strimmer, and the ease of cutting meant I wasn't straining my shoulders and neck repeatedly trying to cut each piece. I haven't finished it all yet, I have 3 lawns and have to pace myself, but I'm actually looking forward to getting out there tomorrow to use them again.

These are superb edging shears and I wish I'd had them years ago. I'm quite tall - 5 ft 11 in - and have suffered with a bad back since my early 20s. I'm now the wrong side of 50 and I have been searching in vain for a long time to find edging shears whose handle lengths are not still rooted in 19th century product design. Quite why this should be the case is beyond me, given the number of tall men and women these days and the ever-increasing number of keen amateur gardeners. Ever since I was a youngster I have been a keen gardener but 2nd only to weeding, the one job I hated most since I became fully grown was lawn edging as it creased my back up something awful due to having to be permanently stooped while using the edging shears with their 'traditional' (i.e. ridiculously short) handles. I bought a pair of these as a birthday treat to myself. They arrived with free next-day delivery in perfect condition and I tried them out straight away. WOW! I can now edge the whole of a large corner lawn and my neighbour's adjoining smaller lawn without having to stop every couple of minutes to straighten my back out. Not only are these ergonomic and comfortable to use with their longer handles but they are also very well made, solid and the blades are as sharp as razors. I am mightily impressed with these and my back is thankful too. If this review has not managed to convince you that these are an excellent investment, they also come with a 10 year guarantee from the Sheffield manufacturer established in 1730. I can 100% recommend these and I am sure I will get years and years of use out of them.

It feels and works like quality , my only reservation is over it’s longevity . Got through loads of edge cutters over the years , need one to last . This appears to have a chance .
