Looked up the gas cap part number using the engine model number. The cap does not fit the tank. My feeling is, getting a gas cap that fits is a hit and miss thing. On an older engine, the gas tank could have been replaced. I recommend taking the gas tank to a local part shop and find a cap that fits. This saves you time and money.

The threads are no good and will only go on about a half of a turn. I have another one exactly like this (made by "Rotary" part number 13228) that I purchased a couple years ago and it fits the tank perfectly, but not this one! And to return it I have to take it to the Post office! That's a joke

Perfect fit for my Briggs 11 hp. fuel tank, thick metal and newer more sturdy design. It's a real bargain at this price. Highly recommend.

I have a 1972 toro snowblower with 7hp briggs and stratton and metal tank, this was supposed to fit according to the part number . The threads must be a little different, it only goes by less than half a turn. It didn't leak nor did it fall off, but still it's not quite correct hence the low rating
