I choose this curtain pole because it looked sturdy, and it's the best curtain pole Ihave had it's solid on the wall.

We are using it as a clothes rod, not a shower rod, to start off. I can't say anything about it as a shower rod. With it in separate pieces I did not have high hopes for it holding it up to the weight of clothes.. but, it has shown it's worth! We have it stretched out minus one section, and it hasn't fallen down at all. I have loaded it up maybe half full with clothes, so a hefty bit of weight, and it didn't slip or budge. There's been no marks on the walls, either. The large ends I believe have a handle on how well this works, especially with no additional support. Other bars I have had to add in end supports to keep them from slipping. Most other bars also have those smaller ends, so I'm deducing that that is the big difference in that function. It does need to be tight to hold, though, so don't attempt to tighten on any thin or flimsy wall, find you some studs to support it if you don't want to use extra supports.
