The parts are good, as are the remote and the motors. The app is also solid except for the fact that the programming feature doesn't seem to work. You can create a program and click "run", but that doesn't cause anything to happen on the motors. While this is disappointing, it's somewhat mitigated by the fact that the "path" mode does work. This mode allows you to draw a path on your phone/tablet screen, which is pretty much the same as programming. It's not quite as precise as programming, but it works. Also, if you use the QR code to get the app, you'll end up needing to sideload it. So instead of doing that, search your phone's app store for "im.master" and load that. It's present in both the Apple and Google stores.

This is definitely a toy for older kids or younger kids projects with an adult or older sibling. My 6 year old needed help with it. It does work well once assembled though. My 15 year old really liked it a lot and has attention struggles. I think this gave him something he liked, to focus on.

It has good quality, and the materials feel durable rather than cheap plastic. However, the main drawback is that it’s a bit complex to assemble, and kids won’t be able to set it up without adult assistance. It would be much better if it included a video tutorial or a detailed instruction manual to make the installation process easier. Once assembled, it works well and maintains its quality, but getting to that point can take several hours of effort.

I acquired this for my grandson, he loves Lego's and building toys. Problem is, as an adult with a particular toy like this, once you have it built, you kind of want to keep as is. He likes to take apart and build again and again, unfortunately losing pieces. This is that toy, take apart and rebuild, but with some care and attention to remaining pieces. The instructions on this are a bit complex, as well as the bags. This is my 4th set of building blocks: Lego, Collector Lego, Tok Moc guns, and now Vevor toys. In the Lego sets and Tok Moc, there are multiple bags, numbered, that run with the instructions. In turn, though, these are 1 item to build with an ideological order of build. With STEM, this came with a choice to build 5 different models, so the bags did not come numbered, and when you started, you kind of had to find your pieces from start and open that bag first. A bit of a guessing game. So, the end game, several hours in two days of building, we had a model complete. My grandson did 99% of the work, I came in to figure a couple odd pieces to the instructions that didn't seem so clear, and to help with the final, "How does it run?" First, there will be pieces left over, I do not believe any of the models, we chose one of the 2 larger ones to build, will use everything. The pieces overall seem to be one of a kind, not duplicates to build all models together. So, just enough pieces to build 1, or take apart and build another, but not all pieces fit on each model. Second, not all pieces are theoretically needed. We found 2 clear, solid rubber hoses. Unsure, we left them until the instructions provided a use, then we didn't use them. These connect the motor compartment to whatever flashing lights are set on the model. Instructions are a bit confusing in winding and wrapping the hoses around the figure, at the time of placement, and they kept coming loose as we proceeded with the next steps of the model. We removed them and left them out. Not a deal breaker leaving this out.5 sets of instructions were provided, and a brief overview picture of what the end product should be. Have a sealable sandwich baggie ready for the pieces that won't be used, you don't want to lose for the next build. The lights are give or take, no real effect on using the motor. If you only take a few hours to build, highly suggest opening the box, figuring what you want to build, and plug in the motor to start charging, so you can use on finish. There is a basic controller that requires batteries, not supplied, or an app to download and use on your phone. There will be some frustration if you are used to the numbered bags and exact pieces, this is a multiple choice model. However, as a learning toy, and the hours to build and understand how and why the pieces are together, I recommend. This is pricey, but so are Legos. With STEM, there is a learning design to what is presented, and this is a good product.

I've built over two dozen of these little RC robot/vehicle brick sets now, and over the last year, they seem to be getting progressively better. Specifically, the apps seem to have fewer bugs, the tracks seem to move more smoothly and fit the drive wheels better, and the motor seems to have a bit better torque, so it doesn't bog down so badly on rough or soft surfaces. After building so many sets, this one only took about 2 hours to assemble. I'm going to be doing a robot maze race in a few months, so I've been tinkering with the various sets and seeing which build is fastest and most maneuverable. Next step is to see how it fits up with Lego Technic parts. From the look of the drive shaft, I think it will. That would be really cool, since that opens up a lot of possibilities for custom builds. But for now, it's a really fun little brick set, with well-fitting pieces, good instructions (both digital and printed), a stable app that's easy to install, and multiple cool looking builds at the end. Definitely a good grab!
